What you play never leaves your device. The microphone is analysed where it is heard — no recording is made, nothing is stored, nothing is transmitted, and that is unconditional.
Two things do leave. The app sends anonymous counts of what gets used — which worlds, how far through the introduction, what happens at the subscription screen — and you can switch that off inside the app. The website keeps an email address, if you type one into a form on it. Both are described below, and neither is ever joined to the other or to you: there is no account here to join them to.
Antinode listens to the room through the microphone in order to draw to it. The audio is analysed on your device, in memory, as it arrives. It is never written to storage, never sent anywhere, and never retained: each window of sound is turned into a handful of numbers — loudness, a spectrum, an estimate of the tempo — and then discarded.
Nothing that could reconstruct what was said or played in the room ever leaves the device, because nothing that could reconstruct it is ever kept, even locally.
Your settings: the chosen scene, the slider positions, whether flash limiting is on, and which pack the catalogue was last showing. These live in the app's own storage on the device and are included in your device backup if you make one. They are not visible to us.
Antinode Plus is sold through Apple. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether the subscription is active; we never see your name, your payment details or your Apple Account. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Antinode works with no network connection. It contacts Apple's servers only to fetch prices and to check whether a purchase is active, and it makes no other network requests of any kind.
Antinode counts what people do with it, because otherwise every decision about the app is a guess. What is counted: which worlds are watched and for how long, how far people get through the introduction, whether the microphone was allowed, whether a television was used, what happens on the subscription screen, the interface language, the device model, and the app and iOS versions.
What is never counted: anything from the microphone. Not the audio, not the spectrum, not a level, not a beat — no number derived from what the app hears is recorded or sent, here or anywhere.
The counts carry a random identifier, made on first run and kept in the app's own settings. It is not the advertising identifier and not the device identifier; deleting the app really does forget it. There is no account, so there is nothing for it to be attached to, and it is never used to follow anyone across other apps or websites — Antinode does no tracking at all and asks for no tracking permission.
It goes to a server we run in Belgium, and nowhere else. There is no analytics company involved, no advertising network, and no third-party code in the app of any kind.
Turning it off: the ··· menu in the app, Share anonymous usage. Off means off — nothing is queued and nothing is sent, and anything waiting to be sent is deleted at that moment.
The app and this website are separate, and only the website collects anything. It has two forms — one to be told when an Android version ships, one to write to us — and each takes an email address, plus a message if you write one. Nothing is taken without you typing it.
What is kept: the address, the message, the time, and the network address the request came from. The last of those is kept only to limit how often the form can be submitted, which is what stops it filling with machine-written spam.
It is used to answer you, or to send the single message you asked for. It is not a newsletter, it is not sold, it is not shared with anyone, and it is not passed to any analytics or advertising service — there are none on this site, which loads no fonts, scripts or images from anywhere else. The data sits on a server we run in Belgium.
Write to hello@magiscan.com and we will delete your address and anything attached to it. You do not have to explain why, and we will confirm when it is done.
Antinode is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affected what the app collects would also be described in the app's release notes — though as long as the first sentence of this page is true, there is nothing to describe.
